Flumpool

Flumpool (styled flumpool; フランプール) is a four-man Japanese pop/rock band. The band, originally from the Osaka Prefecture was formed in January 2007. The band’s name is derived from the English word “four”, since there are four members, they took the first letter “f”, along with the word meaning mass, “lump” and the word “pool”.

On October 1, 2008, the band released a download single named “Hana ni Nare” (花になれ). Their debut EP (though its length is over 48 minutes) Unreal was released on November 10, 2008. Unreal served Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for its shipment of 250,000 copies. – Wikipedia

I got to know this Japanese band through a friend’s recommendation and the interesting album image caught my attention, which lead me to listen in on the songs. “What’s Flumpool!?” is the self-titled album, as if they are exclaiming to the public for more awareness about their band.

The 3rd track on the album 見つめていたい left a deep impression, being a slow rock ballad and yet brilliantly presented the lead vocalist in a smooth and poetic drift. (Do check out the creativity in the music video as well.) I was also pleasantly surprised with this band’s work after listening to the entire album. Unlike 見つめていたい, many of the songs had an energetic rock melody to it like for examples今年の桜, 仆は偶然を待っているらしい, 星に愿いを, Love 2010, etc.

If you have a good ear for pop/rock music, then you definitely won’t want to miss out on “What’s Flumpool!?“.
