The Dodos

“The Dodos are an American indie rock band consisting of Meric Long and Logan Kroeber. Since 2009, Keaton Snyder had joined the band as their vibraphone player. The Dodos began playing music together in 2005, when Meric Long, who had been gigging steadily in San Francisco as a solo singer-songwriter, was introduced to Logan Kroeber through a mutual friend (a college acquaintance of Long’s that happened to be Kroeber’s cousin).” – Wikipedia

I first saw them on The David Letterman show, and I was quite surprise to see how unconventional they were in terms of using instruments compared to the rock bands nowadays. With the drummer missing the bass and sticking a tambourine onto one feet, a vibraphone player and the lead singer with a guitar that looks like it has been in the basement for years, many including myself would have thought nothing much from first impressions. Listening on though, the impression of “oh, juz another indie trying again…” fade away quickly with Meric’s unique vocals, and the clear strum of the guitar I felt new music to my ears and hey it feels… conventional.
